Samuel Adams Winter Lager

Samuel Adams Winter Lager

Brewed by:
Boston Beer Company

(Samuel Adams)
Boston, Massachusetts

Bock

5.80% ABV

Sorry about the stock photo but this is another impromptu index card review; this time at The Olive Garden.

Pours a nice copper color with rich amber hues and a fairly rich off white head.

Nice rich toasted caramel malts, light hops and some spicy notes on the nose.

This beer looks and smells great but I don’t want to get my hopes up, after all this is a Sam Adams.

Not bad for a Sam Adams, sweet caramel malts upfront then a nice carbonation effervescence over the tongue then finally a very nice caramel malt finish with just enough hops for a very pleasant dry finish.

The head as diminished to a nice protective layer over the top of the beer and a ring around the glass. It is also leaving some nice lacing.

This beer is gaining a bit of a hop bite as it warms. There is a lot more flavors as it warms, a richer malt and also some spice.

Even as this warms to almost room temperature it does not pick up any unpleasantness.

Not the most robust winter beer but a very good lager.

It’s almost like this should be their Oktoberfest and they should make a real winter warmer. All and all this is not a bad lager. It’s a good drinkable beer.
