Blue Point Oktoberfest

Blue Point Oktoberfest

Brewed by:
Blue Point Brewing Company
Patchogue, New York

Märzen / Oktoberfest
5.50% ABV

Pours an amber color with a very rich off white head. This head is very creamy with just a small amount of soapy bubbles. This is also a highly carbonated beer with lots of tiny bubbles rising up from the bottom of the glass.

Sweet cameral malts on the nose with just a hint of light hops.

Ok, but not much going on in the taste of this beer. A light touch of caramel sweetness then a fair amount of carbonation over the tongue and then there is a bit of a letdown on the finish. The finish is just a ho-hum lager finish. This beer really doesn’t have anything more than their Toasted Lager, with I really enjoyed.

This is not a bad beer, I just expected a little more in an Oktoberfest brew from Blue Point. It’s OK but that’s a about it, just OK. It would be interesting to have this head to head with their Toasted Lager. Right know I don’t know if I could tell the difference between them.

Well let’s see what happens as it warms up a little.

It’s holding it’s own at 64 degrees, smooth with toasted cameral malt flavors. It is picking up a little harshness on the back end of the swallow.

I’m going to settle for a C. It’s a good lager just not a very good Oktoberfest.
